Turkey’s main opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu: We will reconcile with Egypt and Syria

ANKARA — Turkey’s main opposition politician, leader of the Republican People’s Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi; CHP) Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, stated that if he came to power, he would fix relations with neighboring countries in an effort to restore Turkey’s ties with its neighbors which have been tarnished by the ruling Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP).

Kılıçdaroğlu added that if the opposition comes to power, Turkey will reconcile with Egypt and Syria and return to its founding position.

“Within two years at latest, the Syrian refugees will be returned willingly to their country,” said Kılıçdaroğlu, “I am never racist, but let the Syrians live in peace in their country.”

He also stressed that Turkish elections will come, sooner or later, and the Turkish youth will change the authoritarian government through democratic means.

“The Turkish youth who will vote in the upcoming elections will leave a very important legacy in world political history,” Kılıçdaroğlu said.
