Syriac Military Council of North and East Syria commemorates 9th anniversary of its founding at martyrs’ shrine in Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria — On the 9th anniversary of founding the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) in North and East Syria, a memorial ceremony was held at the Shrine of the Syriac–Assyrian Martyrs in the Al-Mushairfa neighborhood of Hasakah.
In the presence of MFS spokesperson Matai Hanna, MFS members, and media outlets, the event began with a minute of silence in commemoration of martyrs. Hanna then delivered a speech in which he recalled all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the peoples of North and East Syria.
Hanna stated that the MFS participated in most of the military campaigns against the Islamic State (ISIS) and that they have been making efforts to liberate all occupied areas in Syria and return them to their original inhabitants.
“The MFS will continue its struggle until all the rights of our Syriac (Aramean—Assyrian—Chaldean) are secured,” Hanna stated, pledging to follow the path of the martyrs who defended their land and people.
The MFS fighters lit candles on graves of MFS and the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) martyrs and those of other components of the region.
