ISIS leader killed, another arrested, in Syrian Democratic Forces raids in Dayro Zcuro and Shaddadi in North and East Syria

DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — According to the official website of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) was killed in Al-Hawaij area in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) in a shootout during a joint airdrop by the SDF and the U.S.-led International Coalition.

The SDF website stated that the ISIS leader had participated in planning the attack on Ghweran Prison in Hasakah in November last year. The SDF managed to thwart the attack before it took place.

After searching the house where the ISIS leader was hiding, the SDF found weapons and an explosive belt.

In another security operation, the SDF special units arrested a local ISIS leader in the Al-Alwa area in the Shaddadi countryside, south of Hasakah.
