More rejections of Syrian regime’s reconciliation settlements
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Automounts Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria Abdul Hamid al-Mahbash stated that the Syrian regime’s attempts to negotiate individual reconciliation settlements will not help in resolving the Syrian crisis.
Al-Mahbash said that the DAA, since its establishment, has sought to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis through dialogue, but Damascus still pursues a military solution and offers settlements and reconciliations which are rejected by the Syrian people.
Al-Mahbash referred to the recent statements and protests of Arab clans in Tabqa, Raqqa, and Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), as a public response to the regime’s reconciliations.
He also called on the Syrian regime not to ignore the DAA and instead deal withit in good faith.
Head of the Modernity and Democracy Party for Syria Firas Qassas stated that the reconciliation settlements hinder a lasting and national solution of the Syrian crisis because they give the Syrian regime the belief that they can end the crisis without making concessions.
Qassas stressed the need to reject these reconciliations in order to guarantee a solution in Syria. The DAA project is the best path towards a democratic Syria, he added.
“There is no guarantee the regime with respect these agreements in the long-term, as there have been assassinations for those who fell into the trap of reconciliation and believed it,” Qassas stated, indicating that the regime has arrested, tortured, and killed many of those who have agreed to reconciliation.
