Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Raï meets Safi Kalo and delegation from the Secretariat of the Sovereignists Front for Lebanon

BETH KERKE (BKERKI) – Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Raï met with Safi Kalo, political representative of Sheikh Bahaa Hariri, and discussed with him the necessity of holding the parliamentary elections on time. The Patriarch also received a delegation from the Secretariat of the Sovereignists Front for Lebanon, who presented a series of proposals for the advancement of the country.

During his meeting with the patriarch, Kalo stressed the importance of the role of the patriarchal edifice in preserving the Islamic-Christian pact, and in safeguarding the security, stability and prosperity of Lebanon, referring to the patriarch’s positions calling for neutrality, the application of the Taif Agreement, the restriction of the right to bear arms to state forces, and the implementation of UN resolutions.

Kalo also stressed the need to conduct the electoral elections on time, because they are the democratic means to achieve change and carry out structural reforms at various levels.

Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Raï also received a delegation from the Secretariat of the Sovereignists Front for Lebanon. The delegation presented a series of proposals, the most important of which was neutrality and pushing towards the implementation of international resolutions, resisting projects which dissolve the Lebanese identity, preventing the persistence of radical religious ideas of all kinds, and working to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into further isolation.

The Sovereignists Front confirmed that it would launch a project to restore Lebanese sovereignty, in cooperation with all sovereigns, especially through the re-emergence of power through the upcoming parliamentary elections. It also decided to open the front’s doors and offices during the coming period in order to activate the efforts aimed at saving Lebanon.
