Intelligence war between Saudi Arabia and Iran in EU countries
A number of members of an Iranian opposition group were convicted of spying on Danish individuals and entities for the benefit of the Saudi Arabian intelligence services, proving the existence of an intelligence war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The Danish news agency Ritzau reported that a magistrate’s court convicted three members of an Iranian opposition group on charges of spying and providing information about Danish organizations and people in cooperation with the intelligence services of Saudi Arabia, as well as charges related to funding and supporting terrorist activity in Iran.
The three were arrested two years ago and are members of a group called Arab Struggle for the Liberation of Ahvaz. Although the verdict will take place next March, their 12-year prison sentence is almost certain, along with the possibility of losing their Danish citizenship and being deported from the country.
The three were also convicted of supporting attacks against Iran and supporting the hardline Jaish al-Adl group, which operates in Iran and is classified by the United States as a terrorist organization.
