IRAQ: An ISIS operative blew himself up on security forces in Salah al-Din; Iraqi forces target ISIS remnants with air strikes
SALAH AL-DIN, Iraq ـــــ Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in Iraq Major General Yahya Rasoul stated that the Salah al-Din Operations Command in Al-Maetah area searched for the operative of the Islamic State (ISIS) who was injured during the air strike. They surrounded him and after they exchanged fire, he blew himself up, according to the Iraqi News Agency. “Three bodies were found and the search is still underway, “he added.
In related news, Iraqi warplanes carried out air raids to target ISIS remnants in support of the ground forces in Salah al-Din Governorate. “The Air Force Command carried out air raids to support the ground forces in the Mutaibija area, in the Salah al-Din Operations Division,” said Rasoul, indicating that the operation led to killing ISIS snipers after they tried to attack the security forces.
The Iraqi forces continue their military operations to pursue ISIS remnants, after it controlled large areas of Iraq until 2017.
