BREAKING: Turkish court accepts indictment in murder case of Syriac-Chaldean Shmuni Diril
MEHRE/ ŞIRNAK, Turkey – The First High Criminal Court in Şirnak has accepted the second submission of the indictment by the Prosecutor’s Office in the murder case of Shmuni Diril. The hearing by the court of the case will mean that three suspects will be charged for the crime of planning the murder of Shmuni Diril by torture in a monstrous way.
The first hearing will be held before the First High Criminal Court in Şirnak on April 19, 2022.
In the investigation of the unsolved disappearance and murder case of Hurmuz and Shmuni Diril, the First High Criminal Court in Şirnak dismissed the initial indictment submitted by the prosecutor’s office in January as insufficient. The indictment only came after 2 years and after much public outcry.
The retired Syriac-Chaldean Hurmuz and Shmuni Diril couple disappeared on January 7, 2020. Shmuni Diril was found murdered nearby their village in March 2020. Hurmuz Diril has not been heard from and seen since.
Diril ailesinin iddianamesi kabul edildi. İddianamede Şmuni Diril’i “tasarlayarak ve canavarca hislerle öldürmek” suçundan 3 fail yargılanacak. İlk duruşma 19 Nisan’da Şırnak’ta görülecek..
