Completing the drafting of the social contract for the Democratic Autonomous Administration
HASAKAH, Syria — The Extended Committee for Drafting the Social Contract for North and East Syria concluded its activities, which lasted for two consecutive days, in the city of Hasakah. Thus, the expanded committee has completed the drafting of the new contract and is preparing to enter the stage of presenting the draft to as many segments and components of society as possible.
After several separate meetings that had started nearly five months ago, the Expanded Committee for Drafting the Social Contract for North and East Syria finished discussing, amending and drafting the new contract. The Expanded Committee is composed of 158 members, and includes representatives of political parties and the different components of society, in addition to officials of provinces, regional autonomous administrations, youth and women’s movements, and civil society institutions.

According to participants, the recent meetings included the completion of the remaining legal articles in the contract that serves as a constitution for North and East Syria. The attendees also discussed a new stage, which is the stage of presenting and discussing this contract with the largest possible number of segments of society and existing organizations in the region.
The Committee will meet again in another session, which will end with the final version incorporating the opinions and proposals attached to the completed draft being sent to the representative Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration for approval.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria formed the Expanded Committee to work on preparing a draft of the new social contract on the 15th of July of last year.
