Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria hold their third conference

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – The Internal Security Forces (ISF) held their third conference on Monday, with the slogan “through the resistance of Martyrs of Ghweran Prison, we will win”,  at the Sardam Hall for Culture and Art Center in Hasakah. The ISF is organised to be autonomous in each sub-region, with the Gozarto (Jazira) region and its Christian population of North and East Syria, contributing to internal security through its Syriac units known as the Sutoro.  

The conference was attended by the ISF General Command, Co-Chairs of the Ministry of the Interior, spokesman for the Syriac Internal Security (Sutoro), the Sutoro Women as well as representatives of civil and military institutions.

The congress of all internal security elements began with a minute of silence in commemoration of the souls of the martyrs. After the remembrance several speeches were delivered, in which the latest political developments were touched upon, and the ISF efforts in maintaining public security were commended.

A progress report on the ISF work during the past two years was read. In this announcement, the establishment of the ISF College for Police Sciences was highlighted, with the graduation of the first officer training course. Past ISF security campaigns were also revisited during the progress report to be remembered, analysed and learned from.  

The conference also discussed the challenges facing the ISF in their work, with new proposals to reduce these constraints. The event also saw the approval of plans that include establishing new departments, such as the Narcotics Control Department and an Office of Administrative Affairs. The third official gathering also saw some small amendments to the ISF logo.

The conference concluded with the setting of a working mechanism that commensurates with the scope of future challenges.
