Iraqi forces continue to pursue ISIS cells in Salah al-Din Governorate
SALAH AL-DIN, Iraq – Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Yahya Rasoul stated that the Counter-Terrorism Apparatus managed to arrest leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) Abu Islam, who was traveling between the Iraqi Governorates under a false identity, according to North Press Agency.
Meanwhile, the Security Media Cell in Iraq announced that the National Security Agency detachments in Salah al-Din Governorate managed to arrest a seven-member ISIS cell.
The cell members were arrested during a raid of their two strongholds in the Shirqat town. After interrogation, they confessed working within the logistical support detachments and transportation of food and explosive devices to ISIS groups in the Makhmur Mountains and Shirqat town.
In related news, the Iraqi forces monitored another stronghold of ISIS terrorists in the Hamrin mountain, and provided information to the Air Force, which carried out a strike by F-16 aircraft, killing two ISIS operative.
