Syriac Union Party holds annual meeting in Zalin

ZALIN, Syria — Under the slogan “Towards Consolidating Rights of Syriac People in Syria,” the Syriac Union Party (SUP) held its annual meeting on Tuesday in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria.

The meeting was attended by the SUP Co-Chairs, SUP General Council, and councils of SUP local branches.

The attendees discussed the political developments in Syria and the world. Reports of local SUP branches, as well as SUP organizational structure and future plan, were also discussed.

Matters discussed at the national level included seeking a political solution that ends centralized governance and guarantees the freedoms and political, cultural, and economic rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and other Syrian peoples.

At the patriotic level, the SUP meeting discussed continuing dialogue between political parties representing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to reach a political agreement that unifies their positions and advocacy in Syria.

At the level of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, they stressed the importance of the DAA, which has been instrumental in combating terrorism building pluralism for a future Syria.
