SYRIA: Literary Artistic Rhetoric Festival launched in Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria — With the advent of International Women’s Day, many events are being held by the various women’s movements and organizations across North and East Syria. One such event, the ‘Literary Artistic Rhetoric Festival’ was launched in Raqqa on Wednesday by the Women’s Coordination for North and East Syria.

Co-Chair of the General Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, Siham Keryo, was interviewed by Suroyo FM for the event. 

Keryo was proud to announce that the festival was launched under the joint auspices of the DAA’s Women’s Authority and the Culture Authority. The General Council official explained that this year’s festival was organized under the slogan “Together We Protect Our Revolution and Liberate Our Lands.”

The festival included presentations of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean), Arab, and Kurdish cultures in the region. The event had a range of activities from singing to poetry and speeches.

The festival was attended by many notable guests, among which Mrs. Birifan Khaled, Joint Chairman of the Executive Council of the DAA. During her speech, Mrs. Khaled emphasized the need to strengthen the role of women in all spheres of life, especially those in key decision-making functions.
