Syriac Catholic Patriarch Younan receives Father Andrzej Halemba

BEIRUT – Father Andrzej Halemba, former head of the Middle East office in Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), visited Patriarch Mor Ignatius Joseph III Younan in Beirut, and the two sides discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East and the crises they are facing.

The meeting was attended by Archbishop Mor Youhanna Boutros Mushe, former Archbishop of the Diocese of Mosul and its Dependencies, and Monsignor Habib Murad, Patriarchal Curator and General Secretary of the Patriarchate.

During the meeting, the two sides talked about the tragic conditions, challenges and difficulties that Christians in the East suffer from, as a result of the many crises plaguing the region. They focused especially on the situations in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, and they also talked about the church’s role in supporting its faithful children and alleviating their suffering under difficult circumstances.
