Olaf Taw Association holds lecture on relation between women and education in Zalin, North and East Syria
ZALIN, Syria — With the approach of International Women’s Day on 8 March, the Olaf Taw Association for Syriac Language held a lecture on relation between women and education, in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria.
The lecture was attended by Olaf Taw staff, representatives of Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) and Education Authority in the Gozarto (Jazira) Region in the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), in addition to the members of Ashtarot House for Civil and Human Rights Studies.
In a statement to SyriacPress, Co-Chair of Olaf Taw’s Zalin Branch Josephine Soumi said that this lecture aimed at educating women about the need for education on women’s rights.
Soumi indicated that the lecture included several topics, including the interrelationship between women and education and how women’s education has developed over time.
Soumi congratulated all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Deputy Co-Chair in the DAA Education Authority in the Gozarto Region Vivian Baho Aossi stated that they participated in the lecture to emphasize the active role of women in all aspects of life.
“Today, women who used to only stay at home have proven their success alongside men in a true partnership,” Aossi added.
Aossi congratulated women all over the world on International Women’s Day.
