Visiting delegations confirm support for Syriac Maronite Patriarch al-Raï in face of all quarrels
BETH KERKE, Lebanon – Several delegations and personalities came to affirm their support for Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Beshara Boutros Al-Raï in the face of all provocateurs. The visitors also stressed the importance of the patriarch’s role in wisely leading the church in light of the current crises.
Patriarch Mor Beshara Boutros Al-Raï received a delegation from the Jbeil Dialogue Forum headed by retired Brigadier General Ali Abi Nassif. During the visit, Abi Nassif thanked the Patriarch for his patriotic stances and considered him a symbol of dialogue in a time of no dialogue.
Abi Nassif also indicated that Beth Kerke (Bkerki) is a national reference for all the Lebanese, not just for one sect, declaring their rejection of any attack on the patriarchate or the patriarch from any party.
Then the patriarch met with former Minister Farès Boueiz, who spoke about the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war on all countries, and the world’s lack of interest in the Lebanese reality, pointing out that the results of this war might encourage some parties inside Lebanon to become bullied.
The patriarch then received a delegation from the Australian-Lebanese Council, the Union of the Sons of the North in Lebanon and Australia, and the International Diplomatic Academy.
The delegation explained that the Union of the Sons of the North aims to strengthen the bonds of the relationship between the homeland and the Lebanese expatriate in Australia at all levels.
At the current stage, the delegation said that it focuses on relief work, especially with regard to securing necessary medicines, infant formula and foodstuffs, and after the end of the crisis, the focus will be on development projects.
Mor Beshara Boutros Al-Raï also received the head of the Papal Organization’s office in Lebanon, who praised the role of the Patriarch in wisely leading the Church in light of these difficult times that Lebanon is going through.
The organization’s head pointed out that the organization is very concerned about the current situation in the Middle East, especially the situation of Christians in Lebanon and the crises that threaten their existence in all countries of the East, stressing the need to help Lebanon and support the Church and Catholic schools in particular.
