Syriac member of National Assembly of Armenia: Turkish government policy aims to oppress and annihilate all minorities
YEREVAN — Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) member of National Assembly of Armenia Zemfira Mirzoyeva stated that the Turkish government continues to systematically oppress minorities in the country.
“Turkey is not only targeting the Syriac, Yezidi, and Kurdish people within Turkey, but even those residing in Iraq and Syria,” Mirzoyeva stated, indicating that the Turkish government seeks to continue the 1915 Sayfo Genocide by supporting Azerbaijan against Armenia in their war in 2020.
In her speech on Tuesday in the National Assembly, she remarked that, “Turkey is still targeting minorities, such as kidnapping the parents of the Chaldean priest Ramzi Diril then killing his mother… his father’s fate is still unknown.”
Mirzoyeva declared that Turkey’s policy aims to annihilate all minorities within its borders and that is why it oppresses them in various ways. “Turkey has continued its policy of genocide since the Sayfo Genocide in 1915,” she concluded.
