Syriac billiard player Senarip Azar won the gold cup in the Swedish billiard championship, beating his professional competitors and adding another achievement to his sporting career.

In another sporting achievement to be added to the list of achievements of our Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people, the forty-seven-year-old Syriac billiard player, Senarip Azar, won the Swedish Billiards Championship and won the Gold Cup, beating 23 other professional players to win his tenth tournament. He won his first championship when he was twenty-eight years old, and continued by winning championships throughout the following years, defeating the best Swedish players.

Azar also won the European Championships in 2003, 2015, and 2016. Azar is known for his sleight of hand, dexterity, morals and high sportsmanship with his competitors during matches.

In his statement to the Suroyo TV news desk, a SyriacPress affiliate, Azar said that skill is necessary to win matches, but the player’s luck also plays a role in deciding matches, in which the results are very close between the winner and the loser.

He concluded his statement by thanking Suroyo TV, for its continuous interest in the achievements of our people in all fields.
