Co-Chair of Executive Council of Gozarto Region in North and East Syria congratulates Syriac people on Akitu
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region in North and East Syria Nazira Goreya congratulated the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people on the advent of the Babylonian Syriac–Assyrian New Year 6772, or Akitu, in comments to the SyriacPress newsdesk.
Goreya touched on the systematic exclusion that was practiced by the previous political regimes on all peoples, including the Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans), who could not freely celebrate their national holidays.
She added that, today, in the regions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people have been able to freely practice their national culture.
“The beauty of the diversity of ethnic groups within the DAA region has begun to appear,” she continued.
Goreya congratulated the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and peoples of North and East Syria on Akitu and hoped that peoples would obtain their cultural and national rights in Syria, in a new, democratic Syria that guarantees the rights of all.
