Syriac Union Party and Assyrian Democratic Organization sign political understanding document in North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In the pursuit of obtaining the rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and making sure their voices are heard, a Document of Political Understanding was signed between the Syriac Union Party (SUP) and the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) on the eve of the Babylonian Syriac–Assyrian New Year, Akitu.

The document included recognizing all of the ethnonyms of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, developing joint work between the two parties to confront the challenges that threaten the existence of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, achieving their legitimate national aspirations, working with all national forces and participating in drafting the new constitution to build a democratic Syria based on law and respect for human rights.

Officials of the two political parties hoped that other parties would join the new Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) Alliance to achieve their aspirations and secure their rights.
