Syriac Union Party in Lebanon holds electoral meeting for independent candidate Razi al-Hajj

BEIRUT – Universal Syriac Union Party leader Ibrahim Mrad confirmed the party’s support for Razi al-Hajj, the independent candidate for the Maronite seat in Lebanon’s northern Matn district, during an electoral meeting held by the party at its general headquarters in Saad El Baouchriyeh. Hajj is also backed by the Lebanese Forces Party.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), Ibrahim Mrad, and a number of members of the political office and officials representing different sectors, sections and committees in the Matn Coast regions.

The meeting began with a speech welcoming the attendees and introducing the campaign of candidate Razi al-Hajj, followed by standing a minute of silence for the martyrs of the Zahle war, after which the speech was given to USUP leader Ibrahim Mrad, during which he affirmed his support for all the candidates of the Lebanese Forces Party in all regions, noting that any society which is to be built on sound foundations should include economics as well as politics.

Mrad explained that it is necessary to elect the candidates of the Lebanese Forces, to launch an internal and external resistance front, and to liberate Lebanon from the domination of the Hezbollah militia, which solely represents the Islamic Republic of Iran, by all legitimate means.

Mrad noted that the Lebanese Forces have an integrated project and have national affiliation and zeal for the homeland, unlike some candidates who do not have any viable project and do not care about the Christian presence or the preservation of pluralism.

For his part, independent candidate Razi al-Hajj thanked Ibrahim Mrad for the Universal Syriac Union Party’s support, pointing out that his mission in the next stage will be political work to produce an economic recovery plan to turn Lebanon into a developed and prosperous country.
