Matai Hanna speaks about formation of Syriac Military Council in television interview

Official spokesman for the Syriac Military Council Matai Hanna said in a television interview conducted by North Press Plus that the formation of the Syriac Military Council came to defend the Syriac-Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian people in the region against any policy of intimidation or policy aimed at removing our entity or our culture and canceling our identity and beliefs in the region, as we are the original inhabitants of Syria.

In the meeting, Hanna said that following the security tension since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, the Syriac-Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian youth united and took the initiative to develop a serious position by forming a military entity that guarantees the protection of our people and our beliefs in the land of our fathers and grandfathers in our homeland, Syria, and also in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) in general.

When asked about the role played by the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) in northeastern Syria, Hanna replied that the MFS’s participation was a pioneering and positive one in combating terrorist organizations such as Jabhat al-Nusra and Islamic State, side by side with the partners in the People’s Protection Units (YPG), Bethnahrain Women’s Protection Forces (HNSB) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), as well as the al-Sanadid Forces, with faith and solidarity among all components.

Hanna added that the components resolved to form an official military force that would be a legal and complete umbrella for all the factions and military formations that emerged from society to defend the people against any policy aimed at removing our people or our culture and canceling our identity and beliefs in the region, as we are the original inhabitants of northern and eastern Syria.
