BACINNE, Tur Abdin – In the Yazidi village of Bacinne (Güven), District of Midyat of Tur Abdin (Mardin and its surroundings), the Yazidi community celebrated with great joy Çarşema Sor, the festival that welcomes the beginning of spring and the first day of the new year.
Many Yazidis and Syriacs (Arameans-Chaldeans-Assyrians) and Kurds from different parts of the world attended the celebration organized by the special committee composed by associations of Yazidis.
The event was attended by HDP MP for Batman, Feleknas Uca, the President of the Federation of Syriac Associations (SÜDEF) Evgil Türker, Independent Syriac MP for Mardin Tuma Çelik, HDP MP for Mardin Pero Dündar, representatives and provincial co-chairs of the Democratic Regions Party, the HDP, and many Syriac local associations.
MP for Batman Feleknas Uca, who held his speech in the Kurmanci language at the event that started in the early hours of the morning and continued the whole day, congratulated the Yazidi people on this special and joyful holiday. MP for Mardin Tuma Çelik too congratulated, in Syriac, the Yazidi people on Çarşema Sor. Çelik further touched upon the importance of bringing together the Yazidi people from all over the world, after the hardships, genocide, oppression, and exile of recent years to which they have been subjected.
