Patriarchal visit to Sweden: Mor Ignatius Yawsef III Younan pre-visits renovated Martyrs’ Church in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM — After his arrival on Thursday in Sweden, Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Yawsef III Younan, on Friday, toured renovated premises of the Martyrs’ Church in Akalla, north of Stockholm. 

The Syriac Church hierarch toured the church, including the church vault, the alta (qdus qudsin), the classrooms for Christian education, its offices, and the community halls for the parish’s activities. 

The Patriarch was accompanied by the former bishop of Mosul, Yohanna Boutros Mushe and the bishop of Baghdad, Afram Youssef Abba. He was received by parish priest Idris Hanna, the church deacons and parishioners.

His Holiness offered a prayer of thanksgiving and a prayer for the service of Mary Virgin, with the choir hymns.The Patriarch thanked all the attendees, and expressed his happiness at consecrating the church. The renovated Martyrs’ Church will be consecrated by Mor Ignatius Yawsef III Younan on Sunday morning.
