Holy Communion for 45 children at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Beth Zalin

BETH ZALIN (QAMISHLI), Syria — The Holy Communion is one of the sacraments in the Christian religion. On Sunday, 45 Syriac youngsters received the Holy Communion in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Zalin from Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of the Gozarto (Jazira) Region, Maurice Amseeh. The Holy Communion was given during special prayers followed by a speech by the archbishop on the occasion. After that gifts were distributed to the children.

Archbishop Amseeh was also honored with a memorial shield by the parents and Syriac Milli Council of Zalin for all his efforts and years in the service of the Church and parish.

In comments to Suroyo TV, an affiliate of SyriacPress, archbishop Maurice Amseeh said; “On Sunday we celebrated with our children a festive Communion on this blessed day. We held a Communion ceremony for 45 of our children because they are the hope of the future and they are the new blood of the Church.”

He extended his blessings to Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, and the Syriac people throughout the world. He had a special thanks for Suroyo TV because it is the bridge of love between our people in the homeland and those in the diaspora. He prayed to God to bless all who serve the Church and the Syriac people.
