NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Syriac Cross Organization provides agricultural support in the Gozarto (Jazira) Region
AMUDA, GOZARTO REGION, Syria — Under its agricultural support program in Amuda in the Gozarto (Jazira) Region of North and East Syria, the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development distributed agricultural supplies to farmers in the area. The supplies, distributed in two successive batches (the first in mid-April) contain seeds, fertilizers and drip irrigation networks.
The agricultural project is part of the Agricultural Support Program rolled out in the southern villages of Amuda and the Jager Bazaar region, by Syriac Cross in partnership with Christian non-profit organization Samaritan’s Purse. The beneficiary farmers were chosen according to standards set by the Samaritan’s Purse.
“The first batch included seeds and fertilizers, and the second one included equipment for drip irrigation networks,” a Syriac Cross representative told our news desk. The project provided support to 80 farmers with own agricultural lands.
To improve the situation of vegetable cultivation, farmers are trained and guided in the theoretical and practical use of modern agricultural techniques. Periodic visits by specialist agricultural engineers from the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development and Samaritan’s Purse are part of the Agricultural Support Program.
