Assyrian Church of the East and Ancient Church of the East representatives emphasize importance of unity of Churches

CHIGACO, USA — A joint meeting between representatives of the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East took place in Chicago, Illinois, Monday and Tuesday to discuss unity of the Churches.

On Monday, the meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ancient Church of the East. On Tuesday, the meeting was held at the Lawsu Center.

From the Ancient Church of the East, the meeting was attended by Bishop of Australia and New Zealand Mor Jacob Daniel, Bishop of Eastern America and Europe Mor Sarkis Younan, and Bishop of Iraq and the Middle East Mor Chamoun Daniel.

From the Assyrian Church of the East, the meeting was attended by Bishop of Canada Mor Yousef Emmanuel, Metropolitan of the Assyrian Church in Syria Mor Aphrem Athaniel, and Bishop of South America Mor Paul Benjamin.

During the meeting, the attendees raised prayers to the Lord, asking for guidance in completing the mission of full unity for the Church of the East. They also discussed the need to resolve all differences, as well as the proposals made by representatives of the two Churches, in order to present it to the Synads of both Churches for discussion.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, at the Mor Sarkis Church of the Assyrian Church of the East in Skokie, Illinois.
