On the advent of Sayfo Genocide anniversary, Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party in Syria Nazira Goreya calls for ending the Turkish attacks on North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — With the advent of Sayfo Genocide anniversary, Suroyo TV, an affiliate of SyriacPress, made an interview with Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria Nazira Goreya.

“The 1915 Sayfo Genocide claimed the lives of more than one and a half million people from the  Armenians and Pontic-Greeks and Syriacs (Arameans-Chaldeans-Assyrians) who were brutally killed and displaced from their historical land in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia),” said Goreya. “The Syriac people were displaced to other Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.”

She added that after 107 years from the Sayfo Genocide, the same Turkish policy of displacement and infringements is repeated in Turkey and Tal Tamer in Syria.

“We commemorate and have mercy on the Sayfo martyrs,” she stated, indicating that they will keep demanding a recognition of the Sayfo Genocide.

Goreya called on the international community to pressure Turkey to recognize the Sayfo Genocide and stop its continuous violations in Tal Tamr in North and East Syria.
