LEBANON: Universal Syriac Union Party holds a ceremonial event in honor of winning Lebanese MPs

BEIRUT — After the Lebanese Forces Party won 20 seats in the Lebanese parliament, the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon held a ceremonial event, at the archaeological valley of the Dog River (Nahr al Kalb), in honor of the winning MPs of the Lebanese Forces Party and other allies, according to SyriacPress Agency.

The event was attended by representative of Head of Lebanese Forces Party MP Ghassan Hasbani, Head of National Liberal Party MP Camille Chamoun and the winning MPs representing the sovereign parties and allies, as well as members of the sovereign front for Lebanon.

Government figures and human rights personalities were also invited to attended the event.

The event began with the national anthem. Then, a documentary was shown on history of USUP struggle and the danger of Hezbollah’s weapons on the Lebanese identity and entity.

Hasbani then delivered a speech, in which he stated: “Today, we are continuing an ancient issue which is enrooted in the East.”

USUP president Ibrahim Mrad also delivered a speech, in which he mentioned the words of President Martyr Bachir Gemayel on the Lebanese resistance victory in Zahle saying, “You have fought the most wonderful battle in the most sensitive region, during the fiercest war, amid the harshest circumstance.”

Mrad pointed out that Gemayel’s words actually apply today to MPs of the Lebanese Forces Party and their allies who fought the fiercest war in the face of the most powerful powers in the history of Lebanon.

“Lebanon is our country. Hundreds of martyrs were offered to keep its dignity and glory,” said Mrad, calling for enhancing and empowering the sovereign front for Lebanon.

MP Chamoun, in turn, saluted every real Lebanese fighter who martyred to preserve the identity of Lebanon. He also saluted the Syriac martyrs who fought the fiercest battles to defend the identity and entity of Lebanon.
