Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II meets with Syriac Maronite Patriarch Al-Rai in Beth Kerke, Lebanon

BETH KERKE, Lebanon — The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited Syriac Maronite Patriarch Al-Rai, at the patriarchal edifice in Beth Kerke (Bkerke), Lebanon.

The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch was accompanied by Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli Mor Theophilos George Saliba, Archbishop of Beirut Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Patriarchal Vicar for Syriac Studies Mor Severius Roger Akhrass, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director Mor Joseph Bali and Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs Very Rev. Fr. Markose Abraham.

His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II wished His Beatitude Patriarch Al-Rai a full and speedy recovery following the surgery he underwent recently.

The two patriarchs discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the Middle East, as well as challenges that threaten the Christian presence in the region.

Political developments on the local and regional arenas and the mutual relations between the two churches were also touched on.
