European Syriac Union held Sayfo Genocide remembrance event in Switzerland

TURGI, Switzerland — On Saturday, the European Syriac Union (ESU) and the ESU youth organization held an event commemorating the 107th anniversary of the Sayfo Genocide, in Turgi, Switzerland.

After a prayer presided over by Priest of Mor Abrohom Church Father Michael Aziz, the event began with a commemoration of Sayfo martyrs which included the lighting candles for their souls. A minute of silence was then observed.

Member of the Presidency of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) Hanibal Yaqoub spoke about the continuity of the genocide through today against the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chladean) people in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia). He also spoke about the latest political developments in Syria.

During the event, representative of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) in Switzerland Abrohom Mirza spoke about the Sayfo Genocide. Media personality and director of a documentary on the Sayfo Zeinab Tosoduman also outlined the events of the Sayfo.

The attendees, which numbered about 100 people, actively participated in the event.
