Feast of Mor Kyriakus celebrated in Zalin, North and East Syria

ZALIN, Syria — The Mor Kyriakus Church in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, celebrated the feast of Mor Kyriakus by holding an evening of prayer.

The prayer was conducted by Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih alongside priests of the church and a large group of believers.

“We learn from Mor Kyriakus, this miracle child, that we do not fear death at any time, because we all will leave this world,” said Mor Maurice Amsih to Suroyo TV. “Today, we celebrated this spiritual evening in his name and in the name of his mother, Yoliti.”

The Archbishop added that a Divine Liturgy was also held on the occasion.

Mor (Saint) Kyriakus was three years old when he was martyred with his mother, Yoliti (Julitta), by Roman Emperor Alexander in 304 A.D. for their belief in Christ.
