SYRIA: 29 bodies exhumed from mass grave in Mabbug
MABBUG, Syria — During digging work to install sewage systems, workers of the People’s Municipality of Mabbug (Manbij), North and East Syria, found a mass grave next to the building of the Democratic Civil Administration of Mabbug.
After careful exhumation, 29 unidentified bodies were found. Search operations are still underway by the concerned authorities and the Health Committee.
According to preliminary information, the bodies that have been exhumed so far were of people whose hands were tied behind their backs, likely kidnapped by the Islamic State (ISIS) during their control of Mabbug prior to its liberation by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Mabbug Military Council (MMC) in 2016.
