NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In recent comments, Co-Chair of the Syrian Union Party (SUP) Sanharib Barsoum, stressed that cooperation between the people and various security and military forces in North and East Syria is necessary to the success of the campaign recently launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to clear the region of agents and spies working for Turkey.
Barsoum explained that, since the establishment of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria in 2014, Turkey has been trying to undermine the democratic project politically or militarily, going so far as to proved material support to terrorist organizations.
The current SDF campaign to uncover Turkish agents echoes previous undertakings to combat cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) because both groups threaten the peoples of the region, he added.
Barsoum pointed out that this process is one of the means of countering Turkey’s brutal aggression and ensuring the stability of the region.
He stressed the need for the people of North and East Syria to cooperate with the DAA institutions and security and military forces to uncover the plots against the democratic system they have established.
