Syriac Military Council mourns martyrs Issa and Ninos in Hasakah, North and East Syria

HASAKAH, Syria — The funeral service for Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) martyrs Yûsif Mihsin el-Mitras, nom de guerre Ninos, and Radî Mizel el-Osman, nom de guerre Issa, were held in Hasakah, North and East Syria, on Monday.

The two fighters were martyred by Turkish artillery targeting the villages of Dardara and Qabr al-Qarajneh in the Tel Tamr countryside while defending the predominantly Syriac–Assyrian Khabur River Valley.

The martyrs’ bodies were taken to the mosque to pray for their souls, amid a large gathering of the public, their MFS comrades, as well as representative institutions of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) and the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria.

Their bodies were transferred to the martyrs cemetery in Hasakah, where a minute of silence was observed for their souls and a military parade was performed by the MFS.

Speeches were delivered by MFS Spokesperson Matay Hanna, member of the Executive Body of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Afram Ishak, and Co-Chair of the Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation Yacoub Hanoun. They all emphasized the martyrs’ greatness and sacrifices in defending the homeland and its sanctities, people, and culture.

Martyr’s documents were handed over to the families, after which the two martyrs were buried in the martyrs cemetery.
