Syriac Maronite Patriarch Al-Rai receives a delegation from Lebanese Phalange Party and a number of academics
DIMANE, Lebanon — On Wednesday, Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Rai received head of the Lebanese Phalange Party Sami Gemayel and members of the Political Bureau Salim al-Sayegh, Alan Hakim, Majid al-Ailah, Lina Jalakh Faraj Allah and Ghassan Abu Joudeh, at the patriarchal edifice in Dimane, Lebanon.
They discussed the necessity of communication between all parties, including the opposition, and the importance of forming a coordinating framework between political parties at this sensitive stage, in addition to continuous communication with the Lebanese Forces Party and the Socialist Party.
They also stressed the importance of choosing a new president to save Lebanon from its dire situation which exacerbated emigration, poverty and unemployment.
They held the pro-Iranian Hezbollah responsible for the deteriorating situation in Lebanon. They stressed that Hezbollah must change its policies, otherwise, it must expect a change in political life.
The Patriarch also received several academic and intellectuals, including Issam Khalifa, Wael Khair, Kamal Bakassini and Pierre Karam. They discussed the risks of demographic change, settlement and naturalization for non-Lebanese people. The risks of not preserving Lebanon’s national wealth, such as abandoning the land borders, were also discussed.
The delegation also discussed the collapsed educational situation in Lebanon, and the need to achieve reform in all social, economic, educational and political fields.
