TURKEY: Syriac people celebrate the Mor Aksnoyo feast in Tur Abdin
MIDYAT, Turkey — A large crowd of Syriac people from Midyat, Tur Abdin in Turkey and the diaspora celebrated the Mor Aksnoyo feast.
The celebration started with a prayer by Father Isaac Ergon, who spoke about the life of Mor Aksnoyo and the necessity of commemorating our saints through prayers and spiritual evenings.
Then, a group of hymns inspired by this occasion were chanted by the deacons.
For the Syriac people in Midyat, such feasts are declared as religious holidays.
According to interviews conducted by the local Mzizah News website and sent to SyriacPress news desk, the attendees expressed their joy on this day and called on the Syriac people in the diaspora to participate in such religious feasts in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia).
