International Coalition releases statement affirming commitment to achieve regional peace and stability alongside Syrian Democratic Forces, still fails to publicly name Turkey as destabilizing force

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On Monday, the U.S.-led Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTFOIR) released a statement reaffirming its commitment to achieving regional peace and stability with its partners in North and East Syria.

The CJTFOIR renewed its commitment to achieving common goals with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against the Islamic State (ISIS).

Despite its statement affirming its commitment to “peace and stability”, the Coalition has done little to address the indiscriminate Turkish attacks on North and East Syria which have killed civilians and military personnel alike.

Last week, following a Turkish drone strike on a group of girls playing volleyball at a U.N. education center in Hasakah that killed four and injured 11 others, the U.S.-led Coalition released a statement condemning the strike but avoided naming Turkey.
