Peoples’ Democratic Party of Turkey joins left-wing Third Alliance

ANKARA — The opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which secured seven million votes in the last election, joined the Third Alliance, according to Turkish newspaper Zaman.

The left-wing Third Alliance now includes the HDP, Social Freedom Party (TÖP), Labour Movement Party (EHP), Socialist Assemblies Federation (SMF), Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP), and Labour Party (EMEP).

The move came following HDP’s exclusion by the opposition coalition headed by the Republican People’s Party (CHP) due to “accusations leveled against it by the government of supporting terrorism”.
