Syriac Catholic Patriarch Younan invites patriarchs to consolidate relations between Churches
ROME — With the aim of consolidating relations between Churches, Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Joseph III Younan invited other patriarchs to a fraternal meeting at the Syriac Catholic Patriarchal Headquarters (Procura) in Campo Marzio, Rome.
Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Rai, Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia Rafael Pedros XXI Minasian, Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria Ebrahim Essac, President of the Council of Oriental Churches Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Archbishop of Vienna Cardinal Christoph Schonborn, and a number of Syriac Catholic bishops were present.
Patriarch Younan welcomed the attendees and praised their brotherly love and pastoral and ecclesiastical service.
They exchanged fraternal conversations, addressing in particular common concerns and challenges that the Churches face, especially in the Middle East and the threat to the Christian presence there.
They also touched upon the important role of the Churches in the East in standing by the Christian peoples in difficult times.
