BRUSSELS — During a recent visit by a delegation of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria to Belgium, Member of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium George Dallemagne (LE) stressed the party is in favor of stabilizing the region and that they are against any military operation that will lead to a new wave of displaced people.
The DAA delegation consisted of Foreign Relations Commission Co-Chair Abdul Karim Omar and member of the DAA’s representation in the Benelux region Issa Hanna.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the new Turkish threats to invade northern Syria, which they said would destabilize the region and provide the Islamic State (ISIS) with fresh opportunities to reconstitute itself.
The delegation also outlined the violations committed by Turkey against the people of North and East Syria to Rep. Dallemagne.
Rep. Dallemagne stressed his appreciation for the role played by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in confronting ISIS and the sacrifices made by the peoples of North and East Syria.
The situation in North and East of Syria cannot be neglected by the international community’s preoccupation with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he added.
