Kerkeslokh Governorate of Iraq to add Syriac language to traffic signs

KERKESLOKH, Iraq — Previously, Advisor to Speaker of the Iraqi Council Imad Youkhanna sent an official request to the Governor of Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk) to add the Syriac language to the traffic signs in the Governorate.

In response to a request by representatives of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Iraq, the Kerkeslokh Governorate agreed to add the Syriac language to the traffic signs, like languages of other ethnic groups.

In his request, Youkhanna stated that, “This is a constitutional entitlement in accordance with Article 4, Item 4, and a commitment to Article 10 of the Official Languages ​​Law No. 7, in 2017.”
