Annual Holy Synod of the Assyrian Church of the East concludes its work

ERBIL, Iraq — The Holy Synod of the Assyrian Church of the East convened under the chairmanship of Catholicos-Patriarch Mar Awa III Royel concluded in the new Patriarchal Headquarters recently inaugurated in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).At the end of the Holy Synod’s work, it hoped for security and peace for all of Iraq and called for all disputes between political parties in Iraq  to be resolved peacefully.

After the dialogues that took place in the Holy Synod, the attendees approved the formation of various committees for the management of the Assyrian Church of the East.

A decision was taken to increase the members of the Church, especially the two committees that maintain relations with the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church.

During the Synod, officials were appointed for various dioceses and institutions affiliated with the Church.
