General Directorate of Syriac Study in Iraq continues recording of Syriac language lessons for televised broadcast

BAGHDAD — On Monday, Director-General of the General Directorate of Syriac Study in Iraq, Mr. Imad Salem Jajo, inspected the progress of recording Syriac lessons for Iraqi television, one aspect of the annual plan of the Directorate.

The recording of educational lessons in the Syriac language for the first and second grades of primary school, and in the eastern script, as well as lessons in the eastern script for the sixth grade, have recently been completed.



In related news, the Director-General of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) Kaldo Ramzi Ogna inaugurated an art exhibition of works by Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian artists in the Mar Eth Alaha Church in Duhok in the presence of Archbishop Youssef Yago Khoury of Mar Eth Alaha Church, Director of Syriac Culture Raed Gerges Oraha, and Deputy Governor of Duhok Shimon Shlimon.



A delegation from the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts also visited the Chaldean Center for Culture and Arts and the Assyrian Cultural Center in Duhok to meet with the members and administrative bodies and discuss with them ways to consolidate cultural relations, increase mutual cooperation, and intensify efforts to preserve the distinguished cultural and artistic heritage of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people.

They confirmed that the Directorate is ready to cooperate with all cultural institutions and support various activities.
