Syriac Progressive Youth Union participates in Youth Coordination meeting in Gozarto Region, North and East Syria
ZALIN, Syria — A delegation from the Syriac Progressive Youth Union in Syria participated in a meeting called by the Youth and Sports Authority in which several youth movements and organizations in the region participated.
On Thursday, during a meeting organized at the Sports Union building in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, the Youth and Sports Authority in Gozarto (Jazira) Region announced its plans to establish a body to coordinate youth work at the regional level. The meeting included youth movements from various components in the region, including the Syriac Progressive Youth Union..
The Syriac Progressive Youth Union was represented by Co-Chair Mariana Issa Deputy of the Youth and Sports Authority Subhi Melki.
Issa said the meeting began with the Authority welcoming all attending youth movements. The internal system of the Youth Organizations Law was read and discussed by the participants, including the amendment and change of some provisions of the law through the formation of a committee specialized in amendments.
Issa added that some problems facing youth were discussed and the participants agreed to hold a regular monthly meeting to improve coordination and discuss solutions proposed by the youth movements.
She also highlighted the meeting’s recommendations, saying that the coordination body will seek to expand its work by forming a committee to visit youth movements, organizations, and political parties that are not yet present in the coordination, in addition to forming a committee to amend the internal system and organize joint work and activities among all youth movements in Gozarto Region.
