Assyrian Women’s Union holds 9th conference in Nohadra, Iraq

NOHADRA, Iraq — The Assyrian Women’s Union (AWU) held its 9th conference in Nohadra (Duhok), Iraq, under the slogan “Justice is the Basis for Building Peace and Development”.

The AWU elected a new chair and members of its administrative body, with the participation of 82 delegates from all of the Union’s branches in Baghdad, Erbil, Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk), Nineveh, Nohadra (Dohuk), and Nahla.

The conference discussed the Union’s program and bylaws. The attendees suggested amendments or additions to some parts to suit the upcoming stages of the Union’s work in women’s issues in general and the issues of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian women in particular.

A report about the Union’s most important recent activities was also read.

The AWU elected Baheja Daoud as the new chair and Marilyn Youssef as deputy chair and head of the public relations office.
