Commemoration of martyrs of Bethnahrin National Council in Switzerland
BADEN, Switzerland — On Sunday, the institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) in Baden, Switzerland, held an event to remember the organization’s martyrs at the Syriac Club.
The event began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs.
Around 50 people attended the event, including members and supporters of the MUB, representatives of the European Syriac Union (ESU), and representatives of several Kurdish political parties and clubs in Switzerland. The event was presented by Nervet Rhawi Demir.
A number of speeches were delivered. Suleiman Rhawi delivered a speech on behalf of MUB about martyrdom and the need to preserve the gains they have achieved in the pursuit of freedom for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia).
Samir Jarjo Özmen also delivered a speech. He explained the greatness of martyrdom, stressing that it is the reason for the survival of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–CHaldean) people in their homeland.
Priest Karim Asmar clarified the ideology of martyrdom in Christianity and emphasized preserving the meanings of martyrdom.
Other speeches were delivered by former Mayor of Sur Umid Abdullah Demirbas, President of the Kurdish Club Uru Seda Jan, Member of the Kurdistan Community Party Kemal Belgaid, and activist Cigdim Koneh.
