General Directorate of Syriac Study in Iraq discusses inclusion of Syriac education in secondary certificate
BAGHDAD — The General Directorate of Syriac Study in Iraq discussed the inclusion of the Syriac language among the main languages in the secondary certificate for the year 2026.
The Directorate held an educational meeting at Al-Masra Private Secondary School in Baghdad in the presence of a number of directors specialized in Christian and Syriac education.
The attendees discussed the 9th educational curriculum, the Syriac language, and Christian religious education, in addition to the necessity of providing statistical data for the academic year 2022/2023 covering the preparation of students and schools teaching Syriac language and Christian religious education.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Supervision and Training Affairs Department Florence Behnam, Director General of Syriac Studies Imad Salem Jajo, Acting Director of the Syriac Studies Department in the Second Rusafa Education Directorate Muhammad Raad, Supervisor of Christian Religious Education Azhar Shamoun, Director of High Schools Namir Najib, and Father Ibrahim Salem, in addition to teachers and teachers of the Syriac language and Christian religious education.
