DAYRIK, Syria — Under the patronage of Syriac Orthodox of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih, and in the presence of a large crowd of believers, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people of Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) celebrated the ordination of a number of deacons in the Syriac Orthodox Church of Mart Shmoni.
Priest of Church of Mart Shmoni Father Beshara Shamoun and priest of Church of Mar Dodo Father Dodo Murad assisted with the Divine Liturgy.
Archbishop Amsih stated that this ordination is a confirmation of the steadfastness of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and their attachment to their homeland, the land of their ancestors.
He also directed the newly ordained deacons to walk in the fear of God and live a life that satisfies Him and conforms to His will. The Archbishop called on them to be committed to the Church and persevere in serving the altar of the Forgiving Lord, praying that some of them choose to dedicate themselves entirely to serving the Church of the Lord.
In a comment to Suroyo TV, Archbishop Amsih said that the ordination coincided with the Feast of Mart Shmoni, which falls on the 13 October.
He also thanked Suroyo TV for its role in conveying the voice of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to the whole world, and for being a link between the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in the homeland and abroad.
