Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria take precautionary measures to protect civilians in Hasakah and Tel Tamr
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria took measures to protect the people of the region from repeated Turkish attacks.
Turkish forces in the outskirts of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasayn (Zarkan) in Hasakah Canton have established nearly at least five military bases and dozens of checkpoints from which its targets civilians traveling along the Abu Rasayn–Tel Tamer road.
ISF Administrator in Tel Tamr Salman Nouhi declared that since the arrival of the Turkish forces to the outskirts of Tel Tamr, residents have been at risk from repeated artillery bombardment and small and heavy weapons fire.
“Turkish forces have been targeting pedestrians and civilian vehicles directly,” said Nouhi. “The last incident was on Sunday, when they targeted a number of cars with a DShK heavy machine gun.”
Nouhi stressed that the Turkish forces are trying, through these practices, to besiege Tel Tamr district and displace the residents of the area.
“To protect residents, we temporarily closed the Abu Rasayn–Tel Tamer road,” he added.
In related news, a source in the ISF stated that they cut off the road after the western Nashwa neighborhood in Hasakah to dismantle six explosive devices that were planted on the road.
The ISF did not provide any other information or details regarding the explosives.
